How We Started
Somakinternational SIA recognized a genuine gap in Latvia's cycling landscape. We weren't seeing dedicated, thoughtfully designed routes for older cyclists who wanted to stay active but needed flat, accessible terrain. Back in 2019, we decided to change that. We've been mapping, testing, and refining cycling experiences ever since—starting right here in Saulkrasti where the landscape practically begs for this kind of activity.
What began as a simple observation evolved into something more substantial. We spent months cycling these routes ourselves, talking to local pensioners about what they needed, and understanding the seasonal changes that affect riding conditions. We didn't want to just create routes—we wanted to build an experience that'd make people actually excited about getting on their bikes again. That's still what drives us today.
The Saulkrasti white dune and pine forest route isn't just a path we discovered. It's a route we've tested with real riders, adjusted based on feedback, and continue to improve. We're proud that it's become the centerpiece of what we offer—a genuinely special cycling corridor that combines natural beauty with practical accessibility.
